MySpace, But For Models Only
Too many uglies out there.....
By Justin Rocket Silverman
The latest MySpace knockoff is exclusively for knockouts (regular-looking humans can knock but won’t be let in). Male model Jesper Lannung, 24, fed up with the “poseurs and wannabes” on MySpace, is launching modelshotel.com this week, a social-networking site that requires representation from a “top 50” modeling agency to join. Lannung hopes users will make romantic connections and also rent out rooms to other models via the site, allowing them to avoid the dreaded models’ apartments: small, packed pads owned by an agency. Professional agents, who are responsible for the safety of the talent, aren’t quite sold. Dana Cooper, a booker with Vision Model Management, says, “What are you going to do? Find a random model and live with them? At least the models’ apartments are run by people the girls can trust.” Lannung, conscious of competing with those he depends on for work, says his site will make agents’ jobs easier.

Tokyo drive with Bob Sinclar
Bob Sinclar, real name Christophe LeFriant, is a French record producer, DJ, remixer and co-owner (with DJ Yellow) of the label Yellow Productions. Sinclar started DJing in 1986, when he was just 18 years old, specializing in funk and hip-hop music, with the name Chris The French Kiss. His first club hit was Gym & Tonic, a collaboration with Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, featuring vocals illegally taken from a Jane Fonda fitness tape. The Bob Sinclar persona was based on a character from Philippe de Broca's film Le Magnifique.
Sinclar is famous for popularizing the "french touch" of house music, with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. His track "Feel For You", a tribute to french musician Cerrone, from his second album Champs Elysées, hit #9 in the UK Top 40. On track "Darlin'", he worked with vocalist James "D-Train" Williams.
Sinclar has also worked under other pseudonyms. Under the aliases The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet, he has dabbled in hip-hop and acid jazz. He also created the Africanism project, where an ensemble of artists produce house music with a combination of latin, jazz, african and tribal flavors. In 2005 he scored a hit with his single "Love Generation".
The Marijoli party hits the Cote d'Azur
The Côte d'Azur is one of Europe's most glamorous summer holiday destinations. It twists and turns for more than 160km, and is dotted with glitzy legends such as St-Tropez and Cannes and many less well-known idylls, including Eze and Vence. It has attracted aristocracy, artists and actors for years, drawn by the sumptuous establishments, the sensual coastline and the unique light. In the summer the French Riviera is packed but, unlike many resort areas, it does not close down completely in winter.

AUTUMN/WINTER 2006-7 - Pinpointing the key looks, there is a distinct departure from the soft, pretty femininity of the past few seasons for autumn, as designers cut a cleaner silhouette and toyed with the concept of shape. The possibilities of texture and layering were cleverly explored, while the palette, though predominantly dark, was occasionally electrified with brilliant flashes of colour.
ACCESSORIES - Exotic leathers, metal detail and new shapes give fresh interest to accessories when it comes to dressing up this season's pared-down looks
