Designer jewellery brand, Marijoli, officially launched in Tokyo last week to a standing ovation. Now it’s taking a turn in London during Fashion Week.
Talk of the party had spread like wild fire in the weeks approaching the brand’s anticipated launch in Tokyo. Marijoli has been a much-guarded secret of celebrities in-the-know for the past two years, but after
Marijoli’s launch party in St.Tropez over the summer, the word is out. Boutiques in London, Paris, Geneva and St Tropez have been inundated with demand for the brand's trademark organic swirling bracelets and coral-esque necklaces.
Music from James S of Velours fame kicked off with tunes that were familiar to all as summer anthems. Gasps resonated from the crowd of 300 strong as the first model, Rie, hit the catwalk sporting the Mactor bracelet and Elema
necklace all in gold. At the end of the catwalk she pulled off her golden cloak designed by Gozi Ochonogor to reveal the Buma bikini in black with little gold attachments. The provocative vocals from "I'm gonna...." hit at just the right moment, sending the crowd into a frenzy. After the full array of bikini's and jewellery had been seen from the Elema range, the show concluded all too quickly with what everyone hoped was a staged scene: Rie pulled a Japanese company chairman from his seat making him kneel on the floor, one of the two stunning Brazilian models then handcuffed him while the second painted a target on his forehead with lipstick. The models retreated and he was left looking baffled and scared. Moments later Rie, the Japanese supermodel, appeared in the spotlight with a laser gun. She scoured the room and of course found the targeted businessman, letting him have it. Then the lights dropped, the music cut out, and the spotlight picked out Marielle Byworth. The crowd lept to their feet to give her a standing ovation.
Marijoli has indeed hit Tokyo.
